The Market on Madison, located in Dublin, GA is sandwiched between Macon and Savannah, right off of I-16. With its amazing covered pavilion built especially for the market, support from the Main Street Dublin association and small town feel, we’re happy to honor Market on Madison for National Farmers Market Week! A recipient of WWG’s Market Manager Scholarship, Tara Bradshaw talks more about what makes the market unique.
Wholesome Wave Georgia: To what do you attribute your market’s success?
Tara Bradshaw: We are located in the heart of downtown Dublin and there is a desire for people to gather and shop locally and we have a lovely three acre area just off Main Street that makes it such a nice event each week.
WWG: Name a program or initiative that makes your market unique.
Tara: A unique program we offer is Free Space for vendors. Though our sponsors we are able to offer our vendors a space to display their goods at no charge.
WWG: Tell us the history of your market.
Tara: We opened in 2006 and we had minimal turn out until we saw a surge in 2012 when we went from 10 vendors to 75. As a market we got more organized and the community really responded.
WWG: What is one unique thing you can find/buy at your market?
Tara: Probably the two favorite items at our markets is the special secret recipe sourdough bread. Also the pinestraw baskets that ours crafts vendors make sell like hotcakes!
WWG: How are you celebrating National FM Week?
Ginny: We are celebrating National Farmers Market Week by have some kids activities as well as some give aways.
